What is Church Partnership?

In his letter to the Philippians, the Apostle Paul begins by thanking God for their ‘partnership in the gospel’ (Philippians 1:5). Paul is filled with joy because they were saved and therefore partners in sharing the good news about Jesus. The word ‘Partnership’ (Greek: koinonia) has the root meaning of ‘sharing something in common’. There are a number of things that the Philippian Christians shared in common: their love for God, their faith in Christ, the grace of God, their possessions, their money, their love for each other, their prayer and thanksgiving, and their care for the need’s others.

The most important thing the believers in Philippi shared in common, was Christ and their unity in Him. 1 Corinthians 1:9 says, ‘God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship (partnership) with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.’ Their partnership in the gospel came from their faith and trust in Jesus their Saviour and Lord. That is the basis for their partnership in the gospel and as ‘partners’ in the gospel, they were actively involved in growing as disciples of Christ and sharing the good news of Jesus.

That is the vision we have for Trinity Community Church - believers in Christ, who share in common their unity in Jesus, actively involved in growing as disciples and making disciples in Accrington.

Being a ‘partner’ is primarily about discipleship. That means:

  • Life with Jesus - Being committed to becoming more and more like Jesus
  • Life together - Being committed to encouraging others in the church family to grow in and persevere in the faith
  • Life for all - Being committed to sharing the good news of Jesus, through our words and our lives

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details below) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:45 am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after our morning service. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

We have an informal worship service called Sanctuary, on a Tuesday night at 7 pm. Sanctuary meets at our Woodnook Centre. CURRENTLY ONLINE (please message to receive the Sanctuary email)

We also have a Wednesday morning service of Holy Communion, 10 am at our Trinity church building. It is a short service followed by coffee and cake.

Plan your journey:

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the hall.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10:45 am with a warm welcome from one of our service leaders. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our band. We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 15 minutes. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. We will have a Bible reading, prayers of intercession and a sermon based on our reading for the day. We often follow through a book of the Bible, or a topic/theme (you can CLICK HERE to see previous sermon series). Every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, we share bread and wine, as we remember the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus on the cross. We then finish with a final worship song. There is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Creche (pre-school). Dot to Tot is our new crèche meeting during our service. Parents must stay with their children. There will be a point in our service where you will be invited to go out to Dot to Tot.
  • Beyond (4-11 years). Beyond is our Sunday school group for children in Primary School. The children leave during the service, after the notices, to go to their group, where they will learn more about Jesus, through singing, Bible stories and crafts. (Parents stay in the church service)
  • Youth (11-15 years). Not currently running.
  • Young people (15+ years) Stay in service.

Children stay with their parents or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We value worshipping God all together as a family. After a short time together, someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups. You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy. Whilst you are dropping your kids off at their groups, we pause to take time to chat to someone sitting near or next to us, giving folk a chance to come back before the sermon begins.

The children's group activities vary depending on the age but there is a friendly welcome, Bible stories, praying, music, craft, drama and fun games. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
